Why be only Employable, Be a Value Added Person
The gap between the industry and academia is bridged through the extra knowledge imparted to the students by various certification agencies. These are the value added certifications (VACs). The VACs have been an important part of the curriculum these days and many educational institutions imparting professional courses have made it an integral part of their curriculum. The reason behind this is to make the students aware of the information upgrade. The curricula, no matter how advanced, may become redundant sooner or later. They may not always compete with the ever changing industrial scenario and these VACs help the pursuers of the course to maneuver the things their way making them fit for the industry.
The industry is changing at a faster rate globally than ever before and after the fall of pandemic, the transition is even expeditious. The global scenario now demands for further value addition of the young graduates apart from the regular learning they have. The pandemic has raised the values of the VACs to compete with the dynamic world and add value to one’s knowledge and skills. The transition in the process automation, immersion of AI and ML in almost all the processes in the organization, the emerging and invading Blockchain technology, all call for the upgradation of the knowledge of not only the engineering graduates but also the management graduates. These courses are available online on many platforms these days but their efficacy is still questionable.
It goes without saying that any acquired skill is never redundant. For example, Industry 4.0 is data driven and the jobs now require data analysis as an integral skill. Data Science has therefore become one such industry that is growing by leaps and bounds. Several industries such as healthcare, banking/finance, pharma, gaming, energy, manufacturing etc., all have the usage of Data Science. This requires skills drawn from various fields such as computer science, statistics, mathematics, graphic design, information visualization, domain knowledge, etc. A management graduate therefore, will have to focus on the above mentioned skill development also. Areas such as risk management, monitoring fraudulent behavior, payment tracking, claims management, customer analysis and experience all have the scope of the above mentioned skill.
The VACs do not necessarily have to be for the recently demanded skills in the industry, instead one can equipp him/herself with the skills projected to be in demand in the coming times. When equipped with these VACs transform themselves into a Value Added Person (VAP) for the further transition into a Value Added Personnel(VAPl) for the organization they work. The VAP/VAPl are an unerring ticket to the amelioration of the organization employing them. The VAPl’s foster the growth of an organization, utilizing their current and latent skills, letting the ball rolling.
The management programmes normally focus on the skills in current demand only, however, GNIOT Institute of Management Studies (GIMS), Greater Noida makes sure that its millennial professionals are imparted all those value additions in their personality which will make them sustain in the industry apart from making them employable. GIMS, Greater Noida equips the students with all the value added certifications required currently or in recent times such as Data Analytics, HR Analytics, Blockchain, Digital Marketing, SPSS and many more to shape their millennial manager into a Value Added Personnel (VAPl).
